Cobra Starship is known for transforming concert venues into the ultimate dance party with their dynamic, high-energy performances. The group is comprised of lead vocalist and former Midtown member Gabe Saporta, guitarist Ryland Blackinton, bassist Alex Suarez, keytarist Victoria Asher, and drummer Nate Novarro. Gabe began writing their debut album, While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets, as a solo project, but later recruited the additional members to provide back up vocals and sounds.
Cobra Starship’s music style is influenced by pop, rock, synthetic, and hip hop. After signing to Decaydance Records, the group released their debut album in 2006, featuring the single “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)” from the movie Snakes on a Plane. They then released ¡Viva la Cobra! in 2007. Hot Mess was released in 2009 and debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 thanks to the popular single, “Good Girls Go Bad,” featuring Leighton Meester. The band’s most recent album, Night Shades, was released in August 2011 with the lead single “You Make Me Feel” breaking the Top 10 at both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Top 40 Pop Charts. Cobra Starship has graced the stages of several late night TV shows, performed at the People’s Choice Awards, and the 2011 VMAs. The group has also toured the world with Metro Station, Fall Out Boy, Hey Monday, Travie McCoy, and other musicians.
